Can you edit the actual text inside a PDF, or only add a text box on top?
VARAK edits the actual text. It modifies the page's own content stream and reuses the font already embedded in the document, so a corrected word matches the rest of the line instead of sitting in a box in a different typeface. Lines you did not touch are left byte-for-byte unchanged.
Does VARAK need a subscription?
Professional tools need a VARAK PDF Pro subscription: Monthly US$1.99 or Yearly US$14.99, with a 3-day free trial on Yearly for eligible new subscribers. Editing text remains free. Payment is through the App Store — cancel any time in your Apple Account settings. If you already bought the old one-time Pro unlock, it stays yours; use Restore Purchases. There is no separate account to create with us.
How much does VARAK PDF Pro cost?
Monthly is US$1.99 per month. Yearly is US$14.99 per year (about US$1.25 a month) and includes a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. Your local App Store price may vary. The former one-time / lifetime purchase is no longer for sale; existing lifetime owners keep Pro.
Do my documents get uploaded to a server?
No. VARAK has no servers and makes no network requests at all. Editing, scanning, text recognition and signing run entirely on your device using Apple's on-device frameworks. The app works with no internet connection.
Is redaction in VARAK permanent, or just a black rectangle?
It is permanent. Drawing a black box over text in most PDF tools leaves the text in the file, where anyone can select or extract it. VARAK deletes the characters from the content stream, clears the pixels underneath in images, and removes the hidden copies a reader can still reach — alternate text on tagged content, form field values and annotation contents.
Can it recognise text in a scanned document?
Yes. VARAK runs optical character recognition on the device, so a scan or a photographed page becomes text you can search, select and copy. Nothing is sent anywhere to do it.
Does it work on Mac as well as iPhone and iPad?
Yes. One VARAK PDF Pro subscription covers iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Can I convert a PDF to another format?
Yes. VARAK exports to common document and spreadsheet formats, and can import from them, so a table in a PDF can come out as a spreadsheet rather than as flat text.
What happens to a PDF that is damaged or will not open?
VARAK's engine is built to recover from malformed files rather than refuse them. It rebuilds the cross-reference information when a file's internal index is broken, which is the usual reason a PDF opens in one app and not another.
